Their names were left out of the history books. And yet, at 20 years of age, these now elderly women saved France.
Marie-Jo Chombart de Lauwe, 92-years-old, joined the resistance at 16 years of age and was arrested by the Gestapo… Madeleine Riffaud 91-years-old, one of the only women to have become a free shooter. Cécile Rol-Tanguy, 95-years-old. She dialled the number for the call which lead to Paris’ insurrection. She carried weapons in her little girl’s pram. These women stood up against pure evil: the Nazi order. Today, they are over 90 years old. They are survivors. And they still bear witness, all with a shared objective: to promote vigilance. Because tomorrow could be the day to resist once again.
